Using pedal power to drive change

Using pedal power to drive change
Ever wondered where old bikes go to die? Answer is that if you bring them to us they don't die at all, but receive a new lease of life thousands of miles away.

Our friends at Re-Cycle work in partnership with organisations in four different African countries to repair, distribute and maintain bicycles with the aim of creating affordable transport for local communities. After being collected from participating shops such as ourselves, bikes, spare parts and tools are sent to Re-Cycle's partner organisations where they are sold at a fraction of their normal cost via local social enterprises.

As well as providing sustainable transport, these schemes create employment for local bike mechanics (many trained by Re-Cycle) and help in developing their skills. Income generated locally helps to pay for shipping costs, with excess capital also being used to fund other projects and beneficiaries.

We are delighted to play our part by acting as a collection point for old or unwanted bikes, so rather than just discarding your machine at the local tip why not drop it round to us, where it can start on its journey to a new life under African skies?
